Introduction.

It is a fact that around 1 in 12 Americans have been diagnosed as having a form of diabetes, with an unknown number of people potentially walking around at risk of becoming diabetic. Unfortunately our modern lifestyles making it all too easy to eat all the wrong foods, drink more alcohol than we should do or simply not taking enough exercise; meaning that diabetes levels are set to continue rising. Being diabetic doesn’t mean that you have to inject yourself with insulin, as type 2 diabetes – also referred to as adult onset diabetes – can be controlled by diet.

Control not cure.

Type 1 diabetics will require insulin injections.

If you are obese then your chances of becoming a type two diabetic are substantially increased, so it is in your own interests to change your diet, control your alcohol intake and increase your exercise rate now. The reason for this is quite simple – if you are diagnosed as being a type 1 diabetic you will almost certainly become dependant on regular injections of insulin. Whilst you can control type 2 diabetes through your diet – you can’t cure it. Once type 2 diabetes has been diagnosed it can’t currently be reversed. If you are diagnosed as being diabetic it is, of course, imperative that you follow your physician’s instructions as to what you should eat and drink. However, there are some health supplements that can be recommended to help you to control type 2 diabetes; along with those changes to your diet.

Health supplements and diabetes.

The Chinese herbal cure ginseng is one of the health supplements recommended along with magnesium and Coenzyme Q10. All three of these supplements are known to have a positive effect on the level of glucose in the blood, reducing it to acceptable levels and, in the case of ginseng, increasing an individual’s sensitivity to insulin. Taking vitamin C and E supplements will also help your body to rapidly convert sugars into energy; whilst traces of both Chromium and Zinc will help any insulin you produce naturally get to work on sugars in your blood.
